One key part of this relative verification cost is that generative models produce plausible output. It’s not accurate to say a model produces “correct” or “incorrect” output, or “makes mistakes”. It does exactly what it’s designed to do: produce output that is statistically related to the input prompt, in some way. That doesn’t mean “statistically correct”, just “statistically related”.
